Air Fryer Sausages!
Air Fryer Sausages
Last weekend, I wanted a quick dinner that didn’t require much effort, so I reached for some sausages and my air fryer. I wasn’t expecting much more than an easy meal, but they came out beautifully browned on the outside and juicy inside. The kitchen smelled amazing, and everyone was ready to eat before I had even finished setting the table.
Since then, air fryer sausages have become one of my favorite easy meals. They’re perfect when you want something hearty without standing over a skillet, and cleanup is wonderfully simple.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Juicy sausages with a beautifully browned exterior
- Ready in about 15 minutes
- Minimal preparation and cleanup
- Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
- Works with many different types of sausages
Ingredients
- 5–6 sausages of your choice
- 1 tsp olive oil, optional
- ½ tsp garlic powder, optional
- ½ tsp smoked paprika, optional
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
- Mustard or your favorite dipping sauce, for serving
Instructions
1. Prepare the Sausages
Remove the sausages from their packaging and pat them dry with a paper towel.
You don’t need to pierce the sausages before cooking. Keeping the casing intact helps retain their juices.
If desired, lightly brush them with a little olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
2. Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.
Some air fryers don’t require preheating, so you can skip this step if your model recommends cooking from cold.
3. Air Fry the Sausages
Place the sausages in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving a little space between them.
Cook at 380°F (193°C) for 10–14 minutes, turning them halfway through.
Cooking time will vary depending on the size and type of sausage.
4. Check for Doneness
Use a food thermometer to check the thickest sausage.
For food safety, cook pork or beef sausages to 160°F (71°C), while poultry sausages should reach 165°F (74°C).
The outside should be nicely browned and the inside fully cooked.
5. Rest and Serve
Remove the sausages from the air fryer and let them rest for 2–3 minutes.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with mustard, your favorite sauce, or your preferred side dishes.
My Tips
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; good airflow helps the sausages brown evenly.
- There’s usually no need to add much oil because sausages naturally release fat as they cook.
- Turn the sausages halfway through cooking for even browning.
- Cooking time depends on sausage size and thickness, so use an instant-read thermometer for the most reliable result.
- Letting the sausages rest for a couple of minutes helps keep them juicy.

Storage & Reheating

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to pierce sausages before air frying?
No. Keeping the casing intact helps prevent the juices from escaping and can result in juicier sausages.
Can I cook frozen sausages in the air fryer?
Yes. Frozen sausages can be air fried, but they generally need additional cooking time. Turn them during cooking and always check that they reach the appropriate safe internal temperature.
Why aren’t my sausages browning?
Make sure the basket isn’t overcrowded. Good airflow around each sausage helps the exterior brown and crisp.
Can I cook different types of sausages this way?
Yes. Pork, beef, chicken, and turkey sausages can all be prepared in the air fryer. Just adjust the cooking time according to their size and check the appropriate internal temperature.
