Fryer Sausages
Some dinners are all about simplicity, and Fryer Sausages are one of my favorite easy meals when I don’t want to spend much time in the kitchen. I first started making sausages in the fryer after a friend told me how much easier it was than standing over a frying pan. I gave it a try one busy weekend, and it quickly became one of my favorite ways to cook them.
Last weekend, I made a batch for my family with roasted peppers, onions, and a simple cucumber salad. The sausages came out beautifully browned on the outside while staying juicy inside. Everyone loved them, and the best part was having almost no greasy stovetop mess to clean afterward.
Now I make these whenever I need a quick dinner, especially on those evenings when I’m tired but still want something homemade. They’re incredibly versatile—you can serve them with vegetables, salad, potatoes, or tuck them into a whole-grain roll.
If you love juicy sausages with a crispy, golden outside, this air fryer method is definitely worth saving!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Juicy inside and beautifully browned outside
Quick and easy
Minimal cleanup
No need to stand over the stove
Great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
Works with many types of sausages
Ingredients
1 pound sausages
1 teaspoon olive oil, optional
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Black pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, for garnish
Lemon wedges, for serving
Optional Vegetables
1 bell pepper, sliced
1 small red onion, sliced
1 zucchini, sliced
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sausages
Pat the sausages dry with paper towels.
If desired, lightly brush them with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.
Don’t pierce the sausages before cooking—the juices can escape and leave them drier.
Step 2: Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.
Step 3: Air Fry
Place the sausages in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 10–14 minutes, turning them halfway through.
The exact time will depend on the size and type of sausage.
For food safety, check the thickest sausage with a meat thermometer. The safe internal temperature depends on the type of sausage; for example, ground beef, pork, or lamb sausages should reach 160°F (71°C), while poultry sausages should reach 165°F (74°C).
Step 4: Rest
Remove the sausages from the air fryer and let them rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges if desired.
Optional Air Fryer Vegetables
For an easy one-basket meal, toss sliced bell pepper, onion, and zucchini with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Air fry the vegetables for about 8 minutes, then add the sausages and continue cooking until everything is tender and browned.
Tips
Don’t overcrowd the basket.
Turn the sausages halfway through cooking for even browning.
Cooking time varies depending on sausage thickness.
Don’t pierce the sausages before cooking.
Always check the internal temperature for doneness.
Let them rest briefly before serving so the juices redistribute.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to boil sausages before air frying?
No. You can cook them directly in the air fryer. This helps preserve their flavor and keeps the method simple.
Should I poke holes in sausages before air frying?
It’s generally better not to. Piercing them can allow flavorful juices and fat to escape, which may make the sausages less juicy.
Can I cook frozen sausages in the air fryer?
Yes. They can be cooked from frozen, but they’ll need additional cooking time. Separate them as they begin to thaw and make sure they reach the appropriate safe internal temperature.
Can I cook different types of sausages?
Yes. Pork, beef, chicken, and turkey sausages can all be cooked in the air fryer. Adjust the cooking time according to their size and always verify the internal temperature.
What can I serve with Air Fryer Sausages?
Try roasted vegetables, Greek salad, cauliflower rice, mashed potatoes, sautéed peppers and onions, or a simple cucumber-tomato salad.
Can I make these sausages low-carb?
Yes. Sausages themselves can be relatively low in carbohydrates, but check the nutrition label because some varieties contain added sugars or fillers. Pair them with non-starchy vegetables or salad for a lower-carb meal.
