Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Lemon & Honey Wellness Blend
I love simple kitchen recipes that come together with ingredients I already have at home, and this little Turmeric, Ginger, Cinnamon, Lemon & Honey Blend is one of those recipes that feels especially comforting.
I first tried making a small jar of this after a friend recommended combining fresh ginger with turmeric and lemon. I added a little cinnamon and raw honey for warmth and flavor. The result was bright, spicy, slightly sweet, and surprisingly enjoyable.
I like preparing a small batch on the weekend and keeping it refrigerated. It makes a convenient addition to my morning routine when I want something flavorful and warming.
One important note, especially if you’re making this for a diabetes-conscious diet: honey is still added sugar and can raise blood glucose. This mixture should not be considered a treatment or cure for diabetes, inflammation, infections, or other medical conditions. You also don’t need to wait seven days before consuming it—there isn’t a standard evidence-based rule requiring that.
Ingredients
- ½ cup fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
- ¼ cup fresh turmeric, peeled and finely grated
or 1½ tablespoons ground turmeric - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- 2–3 tablespoons raw honey, or to taste
- 2–3 tablespoons water, if needed for consistency
- Optional: small pinch of black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Ginger & Turmeric
Wash, peel, and finely grate the fresh ginger and turmeric.
If using ground turmeric, simply add it directly to the mixture.
Step 2: Combine Everything
Add the ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, lemon juice, and honey to a clean glass jar.
Stir thoroughly until everything is well combined.
Add a little water if the mixture is too thick.
Step 3: Add Black Pepper
If desired, add a very small pinch of black pepper and mix well.
Step 4: Refrigerate
Cover the jar tightly and refrigerate.
Give it a good stir before each use because the ingredients naturally separate.
For best quality, prepare a small batch and use it within several days.
How to Use It
The image suggests taking 1 teaspoon daily, but there is no established medical requirement to wait until the seventh day or to take this mixture every day.
If you enjoy it, a small amount can be mixed into:
- Warm water
- Unsweetened tea
- Plain Greek yogurt
- Oatmeal
- A smoothie
If you’re watching blood sugar, reduce or omit the honey and rely on the lemon, ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric for flavor.
Diabetes-Inspired Version
For a lower-sugar version, I would make one important change: leave out the honey or use only a very small amount.
Honey may be natural, but it still contains carbohydrates and can raise blood glucose.
A simple diabetes-conscious version is:
- Fresh ginger
- Turmeric
- Cinnamon
- Lemon juice
- Water
- Optional pinch of black pepper
This gives you the spicy, citrusy flavor without adding concentrated sugar.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
This is a food mixture, not a medicine. Turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, lemon, and honey are nutritious ingredients, but claims that a daily teaspoon will “detox,” cure disease, or reliably reduce blood sugar aren’t established by this recipe.
If you take medications—particularly medicines that affect blood sugar or blood clotting—it’s sensible to check with your healthcare professional before using concentrated amounts of herbs or supplements regularly.

Simple Serving Idea
For a refreshing version, stir 1 teaspoon of the mixture into a cup of warm water, then add a little extra fresh lemon.
For a diabetes-conscious option, make it without honey or use a very small amount and account for it as part of your carbohydrate intake.
